After looking after your family and loved ones, there are
several ways you can choose to leave a gift to Weston Hospicecare
in your will.
 |
A Residuary legacy – which is the remainder
of your estate, after all your other legacies and
commitments have been paid |
 |
 |
A Pecuniary legacy – a sum of money,
specified
in your will |
 |
A Specific legacy – a certain item, perhaps
some
shares or jewellery, stipulated in your will |
 |
A Conditional legacy – under this kind of
legacy,
Weston Hospicecare would benefit if any or all of
your beneficiaries die before you |
 |
A Reversionary legacy – you could choose to
leave something, such as a house, to a partner or
a friend for their use during their lifetime.
Afterwards, the value would be passed to your
selected charity |
We recommend that for drafting a new will, or for
making an alteration to an existing one, you should
contact a solicitor.
Tax
Surprisingly, nobody wishes to benefit the Inland Revenue on
their death. Estates which are valued at over £275,000 will be
subject to Inheritance tax at 40% on any amount over that
figure. So, for example, if your estate is valued at £285,000
your benefactors will need to pay £4,000 in Inheritance Tax, but
there is an alternative! A charitable bequest is free from
Inheritance Tax, simple to include in a will and can be set at a
level to ensure no financial difficulties to surviving partners.
Consult your solicitor for more information.
