Hospice at Home Nurses
Hospice at Home, as the name suggests, provides nursing care to support patients and their families in their own homes. The service, provided by experienced Weston Hospicecare carers, is used in the later stages of a life-limiting illness, or to give support during a difficult period. The carers are able to provide nursing care, without the patient having to move to an unfamiliar environment. Having a Hospice at Home Carer allows the usual carer to get a good night’s sleep, or take a break during the day knowing the patient is being safely and professionally cared for.
Hospice at Home can be accessed by health care professionals such as District Nurses, GPs and Community Nurse Specialists and is subject to availability of resources.
A night shift usually runs from 10.00pm to 7.00am. Day shifts are flexible but our carers would usually be with a patient for at least three hours.

“I remember on the toughest days, when everything was in a mess, I’d think to myself and say to Pat: the Hospice nurse will be coming soon all we need to do is hang on until they come. Everything will be then be ok” Michael Greaves, Husband of Patient.
