Complementary Therapies are a range of interventions, which may be used in addition to conventional medical and nursing treatments. They do not offer a cure, but provide support in terms of symptom relief, increased wellbeing and an enhanced quality of life.

Before commencement of a course of treatment an assessment will be made and written consent obtained. A patch test may also be indicated. If there are any contra-indications treatment will not be offered.

Massage is the gentle, rhythmic manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, which is comforting and induces relaxation. Massage may be enhanced by the addition of essential oils.

Aromatherapy is the ancient art of using essential oils to create balance and harmony between body, mind and spirit. Essential oils are highly concentrated essences obtained from plants. These aromatic oils contain many complex chemicals which when absorbed by the body have a therapeutic benefit.

Reflexology – a treatment whereby gentle pressure is applied to the reflex zones on
the feet or hands. Essential oils
may be used with reflexology treatment.
