"I dread to think how me and my family would have coped if there had been no hospice. It's been a lifeline to us." Jackie Board, 44, mum of two & cancer patient
This year, more people than ever in our community will turn to Weston Hospicecare for help.
We will support 1,000 people like Jackie with the vital care and support they need to enable them to live
every last moment of their lives to the full. We will help their families to care for them,
and give them all emotional support through the toughest experience they will ever have to face.
We strive to ensure every patient is pain-free and able to lead a full and rewarding life for as
long as possible, and is able to be cared for and ultimately to end their life in the place of their choice.
The majority of our work, through our team of Community Nurses, is to support people and their families
in their own homes. In addition we provide a Day Hospice service and have a 10-bed In Patient Unit at
our Weston-super-Mare hospice.
For patients like Jackie, our support quite simply makes the difference between being able to stay
in their own home with their own family, or having to be admitted to a care home, the In-patient
Unit at the hospice or their local hospital.
We provide all of our care and support
free of charge to our patients and their families.
This year we need to raise an additional £160,000, above and beyond our normal fundraising income,
to support all our patients.
We're calling on our community to take part in our "Do Just One Thing" Appeal, by doing just one
thing to raise money for us. We would like people, companies, schools, clubs, groups, and organisations
to get involved and to do one thing, anything -- whether it's a sponsored walk, a raffle, an overseas trek,
or a coffee morning.
Thank You
