Bleadon Parish Church has made the hospice their charity for Lent. Each Tuesday, they’re holding a soup lunch, and the proceeds from that event are coming to the hospice, along with any other donations.
Rev. Tim Erridge, who is the vicar of St Andrews, is encouraging people to think about putting faith into practice by helping others. He feels the hospice is an excellent focus for practical help, especially in terms of financial support.
On Sunday, March 12th, our hospice chaplain Karen Murphy went along to a new church venture for families called Sunday Teatime. She spoke to parents and children about the work of the hospice, and the children made candles to light as prayers for those who are ill. The children then made beautiful thank you cards for the hospice staff and volunteers for all we do, and these cards will be on display in the chapel.
Karen Murphy will be leading two Lent groups for the church at the hospice in March, so that those attending can get an experience of the surroundings if they haven’t visited previously. It’s also a chance to encourage people to talk about where we find support and help during hard times, such as when you’re facing death and bereavement.
We’d like to thank everyone at Bleadon Parish Church, particularly the children who have taken the time to think of the hospice and those we care for. It’s always wonderful to see that kind of care and thoughtfulness!
