Inspired to register to take part in the Midnight Beach Walk in memory of her father, a Weston woman has called on all women to register as its confirmed you can still sign up in person on the night to take part in the walk tonight (Friday).
Claire Lowe will walk with her mother Wendy Lowe and her wife Christine Bygrave after their father, husband and father-in-law Robert Lowe died in November last year after being cared for by the hospice.
Claire said: “My father passed away peacefully at Weston Hospicecare on 26 November 2017, two months after being diagnosed with mesothelioma. This is where he spent the last 13 days of his life and he couldn’t have received better care.
“Our experience of Weston Hospice was second to none, we couldn’t fault it. No words can possibly express our thanks to everyone at the hospice. So we walk in appreciation for the constant help & support we received from the first minute we arrived, without which we couldn’t have coped.
“I walked two years ago in memory of a friend’s husband and never dreamt I would be at the hospice a year later with my father.
“So to any women thinking of walking please, please do it. You never know what tomorrow holds. This facility must be allowed to continue and can only do so with the help of your support at fundraising events like this.”
Women who wish to take part in the Midnight Beach Walk can still register on the night for the same price as online registration, which closed on Tuesday 4 September.
Participants will be charged an entry fee of £15 per adult and £10 per child and all the profits from the event will return to the hospice.
