The Wedmore 40-30 is a new charity cycle ride event due to take place on 17 June.
There is a 12-mile fun ride, a 30-mile route, a 40-mile route or a combined 70-mile route available to cater to those of all abilities.
Anita Wiegl-Lloyd, who works at the hospice, is taking on the 30-mile route and recognises how important fundraising is for the hospice.
She said: “I am doing the 30-mile route together with my friend. First and foremost, we are doing it because we enjoy cycling but also to raise money for the hospice.
“However, raising money for the hospice at the same time was the decisive factor.
“I am really looking forward to the ride and I really hope that it will become an annual event.”
John Ford, the lead event organiser, said: “We believe this event will be popular as if offers options for all abilities. From a short 12-mile fun ride for those who have done little cycling to the 30-mile and 40-mile route through to the combined 70-mile route for those who want a bigger challenge or who are regular riders of such distance.
“We have planned routes around the quieter lanes of Somerset and hope that those taking part may discover a new corner of our beautiful county and encourage them to get back again on their bikes. After all what better way to spend a Sunday in June than enjoying our countryside, getting some exercise and raising money for two local good causes.”
