A Weston Hospicecare nurse completed a New Forest marathon last Sunday and has now signed up for another.
Jodie Jeffery completed the New Forest marathon in a time of four hours, 30 minutes to raise money for the hospice.
After the event, Jodie said while it was tough she now has the ‘marathon bug’ and has signed up for another marathon next June.
She said: “At times I struggled mentally but thinking of the hospice actually pushed me on. The second half of the race was tough, hot and hilly.
“But I have caught the marathon bug I think as I have entered another marathon next June.
“I managed a time of four hours, 30 minutes and I finished 425th out of 730 runners.
“I wore my running vest with pride and I now need to learn to walk again!”
Jodie has raised an amazing £260 so far and if you would like to support her fundraising efforts visit https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/jodie-jeffery1 to donate.
It costs £4.2million each year to run the hospice with 20% of that figure coming from the NHS. This means the hospice must raise the rest through retail, donations and fundraising events.
