Weston Hospicecare trustee has been awarded a Platinum Champions Award.
The Platinum Champions Award is awarded by The Royal Voluntary Service in honour of Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The committee have handpicked 490 people across the UK to be given the award.
They were given out by a panel which was overseen by The Duchess of Cornwall.
Hospice Trustee Hilary Emery is one of the 490 people selected to be given the award. She is the only person in North Somerset to be awarded.
Hilary also volunteers at the Oncology Unit at Weston General Hospital and has a track record of giving dedicated voluntary service to her community.
Paul Winspear, the hospice’s CEO, says “Hilary is a true champion of volunteering. We are absolutely delighted for Hilary to be celebrated and recognised in this way. It simply couldn’t have happened to a more-deserving person who never sought recognition.”
Meanwhile, Hilary says “I am particularly delighted that I am carrying the flag for North Somerset.
“This award represents all of our amazing hospice volunteers!”
Weston Hospicecare is reliant on the kindness and generosity of volunteers. Its voluntary service like Hilary’s, and hundreds of others, that allow people in North Somerset to be given care by Weston Hospicecare.
