Local solicitors join forces for the good of local hospice

Solicitors in Weston-super-Mare, Burnham, Clevedon, Cheddar and Wrington are giving their time, free of charge, to write wills in return for a donation to Weston Hospicecare.

They are doing this during the hospice’s Make Your Will Week which returns during week commencing 28 February 2022.

Almost £20,000 was donated by supporters during the 2021 Make Your Will Week.  These vital funds provided much needed specialist end of life care to people in our community.

“We are so grateful” – Weston Hospicecare fundraiser

Individual Giving Manager, Carla Bloomfield said “We are, as always, so grateful to the solicitors involved with Make Your Will Week, who are now taking bookings.

“There are limited appointments so book directly with a participating solicitor as soon as you can.  The suggested donation for a will is £120 and £200 for a pair of mirror wills which is considerably less than the normal charges for these services.

“Every donation will provide care to a local family facing the most difficult of times.”

She added:  “One in five local people receive hospice care because people remembered Weston Hospicecare in their wills.  They are absolutely vital to ensure care for our future generations.

“There is no obligation to include Weston Hospicecare in your will but if you do it will mean that a local person can die with dignity in a place of their choosing.  Your gift, big or small, will ensure everyone can make the most of the time they have left.  It will also support those left behind with their grief.”

The difference it makes…

Roger lost his wife Trudi to cancer.  She received specialist end of life care from the team of dedicated professionals at Weston Hospicecare.  Roger said:  “We were so grateful that the hospice was able to provide a bedroom in their In-Patient Unit, as we couldn’t possibly have given her the necessary care and pain relief that she needed at the end of her life.”

Roger continued, “Knowing hospice care is mostly funded by donations and gifts in wills I am very happy to have remembered the hospice in my will along with making my monthly donation to the A Minute A Month campaign and taking part in the lottery.”
