Weston Hospicecare has received a generous stock donation from Lidl for the Mendip Challenge event on 3 June.
Lidl distribution centre, located near junction 21 of the M5, donated 450 two litre bottles of water, along with chocolate bars and other snacks.
James Stroud, the Warehouse Team Manager at Lidl’s regional depot in Weston, said: “We work with many charities in and around the South West area and we feel we are part of the community with two stores and the regional distribution centre currently in Weston-super-Mare.
“We are aware of the great work Weston Hospicecare does in the community, so being part of fundraising initiatives gives us great pride.
The donation has been gratefully received by the hospice and it will allow the funds, intended to organise refreshments, to be added to the final total figure raised.
Kelsey Dehaney, the event organiser, said: “I would like to say a massive thank you to Lidl’s Weston based distribution centre on behalf of Weston Hospicecare for their very generous donation.
“This will help us keep the costs of running the event down, meaning more funds raised to support patient care that we provide.
“There is still time to register for the event for anyone who would like to take part, we hope to see as many members community out supporting us, the fundraisers and all the volunteers on 3 June.”
If you are interested in taking part you can still register. There is a 10-mile, 20-mile and 30-mile route available and the deadline to sign up is Sunday 27 May. If you are interested please click here to register.
