Weston Hospicecare have postponed the grand opening of the Superstore and Donation Centre due to a serious weather warning.
The rest of the hospice’s charity stores will also be closed while there is a red Met Office weather warning.
Weston-super-Mare and North Somerset have been issued with a red weather warning for winds from Storm Eunice which is expected to reach 60-100mph.
The hospice feels it has an obligation to do everything it can to keep the many supporters, staff and volunteers safe.
The Superstore will open for trading from Saturday instead with the Grand Opening event set to be rearranged.
Paul Winspear, the hospice’s Chief Executive, says “With regret we have decided to postpone the Grand Opening event of our new Superstore and Donation Centre at 10 Searle Crescent to a future date, due to a Met Office red weather warning which includes Weston-super-Mare.
“The Grand Opening event will be rescheduled to a future date. We believe this is the responsible and we look forward to welcoming visitors and customers to the Superstore from Saturday onwards.”
The Superstore will be open from Saturday where, at 10.30am, a ribbon will be cut to signal the opening of the charity’s flagship store.
Thereafter, the opening times will be Monday-Saturday, 9am-6pm and Sundays 10.30am-4.30pm.
