With just about four weeks to go until Weston Hospicecare’s first-ever Bubble Rush 5K, local businesses have been getting on board to show their support.
Local petrol company BWOC, which has supported the hospice for more than 21 years, has signed up as the green Bubble Station sponsor for the event.
‘Everyone in BWOC appreciates the wonderful caring job that the hospice does in supporting families within our community,’ said Mark Wayne, BWOC’s Managing Director. ‘That’s why we have a number of staff who have signed up with their families to take part in the Bubble Rush in August, and we even have a few enthusiastic staff taking part in the hospice’s abseil event in July. We understand the difficulties you have to overcome as a self-funded charity in reaching the financial targets you need to operate at your current level; so, as a local business, we want to support you however we can.’
In 2014, to help the hospice celebrate its 25th anniversary, BWOC commissioned a branded tanker as a commemorative gift. The tanker, which travels thousands of miles around the Somerset and North Somerset region, helps spread the word about the hospice.
‘I know our drivers take great pride in driving the hospice-branded vehicle that we hope generates increased awareness of your charity,’ said Mark.
Local business AP Signs & Print have also signed up as the pink Bubble Station sponsor. In addition to their sponsorship, the company kindly donated five rear-window stickers with details of the event, effectively turning the cars into mobile banners.
‘Weston Hospicecare do fantastic work in our community, and by supporting the Bubble Rush this August, we know our sponsorship will go towards helping local people with life-limiting illnesses, which we are all touched by at some point in our lives,’ said Rob Burrows, AP Signs and Print’s Managing Director. ‘As a local company, we feel it’s so important to help and support local charities in our community, and we pride ourselves in supporting a charity like Weston Hospicecare that puts so much love into helping and caring for people.
‘Having taken part myself in some of their fundraising activities, I know how exciting and fun they are. They really bring us all together for a great cause. We look forward to sponsoring Weston Hospicecare again in the near future, and wish them all the luck with their fundraising events throughout the summer and beyond.”
There are two more Bubble Stations – blue and yellow — available for sponsorship, and the hospice also has smaller sponsorship opportunities for those interested.
‘We are really pleased to have the sponsors like BWOC and AP Signs & Print on board and to have the support of local businesses like the Sweet Shack, Lizzie’s Kitchen, DiMascio’s Ice Cream Van and Action Pussycat, who will all be there on the day to help make the event a success,’ said Kelsey. ‘With everything planned, the day is sure to draw a crowd and engage lots of people.’
