I Pledge

December 9, 2020 @ 9:00 am - March 31, 2021 @ 8:00 am

The next phase of #FromMyHeartToMyHospice is here! Could you pledge to raise money for your hospice, your way?

Kick start the New Year with an activity of your choice, raising sponsorship and donating the proceeds to your local hospice.

Why do we need your help?

  • We need you to support us because local people with a life-limiting illness need us.
  • We need YOU to pledge so Sophie can have her symptoms managed by one of our 10 community nurses from her own home and with her loved ones around her.
  • We need YOU to pledge so Tommy can have the have professional counselling from our Family Support Team after his Daddy passed away.
  • We need YOU to pledge so Elizabeth can attend our Day services and have access to spend time and talk to others in similar situations, have a home cooked lunch and complimentary therapies if she would like to.

Show your support to the “I Pledge” campaign by sharing your photos, videos and progress on the #FromMyHeartToMyHospice Facebook page or send your photos to us by clicking here to feature our supporter wall.

Could you pledge to…

  • Walk every day for at least a mile for a month?
  • To give up smoking or drinking?
  • To ask your employer to hold a fundraising event for the hospice or request Weston Hospicecare becomes your employer’s Charity of the Year?
  • Get cycling?
  • Shave your head?
  • Hold virtual cookery classes?
  • Sell your unwanted goods via Facebook marketplace or eBay and donate your profits?

We need supporters to help us relieve pain to those with life-limiting conditions by providing support to allow us to deliver physical, emotional and spiritual care to people who need it most.

So what are you waiting for, get started today!

What is #FromMyHeartToMyHospice?

Weston Hospicecare is blessed by an incredible base of loyal community supporters. From arranging Christmas fayres, quiz nights, opening private gardens to fundraising at schools and work, our incredible community fundraisers are so important.

The coronavirus pandemic has put a stop to all traditional community fundraising activity. During this temporary period of isolation and social distancing, we’d love you to use social media and this very webpage to still feel part of that community support of your hospice.

#FromMyHeartToMyHospice is Weston Hospicecare’s community fundraising brand to encourage as many people in Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset and Sedgemoor take part in fun-filled fundraising.

Each quarter we’re putting forward a new theme for our supporters to embrace but that doesn’t mean we’re asking you not to come up with your own ideas as you usually would do so well.

For any further queries or questions about how to get involved, email sue.kingman@westonhospicecare.org.uk or call 01934 423900.

    Reclaim Gift Aid

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Weston Hospicecare to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Weston Hospicecare we can claim back 25p from the government.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like Weston Hospicecare to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Weston Hospicecare will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

    What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Weston Hospicecare receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.
