As volunteers, our Friends groups organise their own events and activities, which are all supported by the hospice’s community fundraisers.
They arrange many successful events including coffee mornings, breakfasts, Christmas fairs, summer fetes, quiz nights, fashion shows and much more. They are always there to lend a helping hand and are vitally important to the hospice.
By joining a Friends group, you can:
- be actively involved in your local community;
- make new friends and have fun;
- develop skills in fundraising and event organisation; and
- help make a difference to local people with life-limiting illnesses and their families.
We have several Friends groups across the area in Blagdon, Burnham-on-Sea, Congresbury, Hutton, Kewstoke, Wrington, Worlebury, Wedmore and now our newest group in Cheddar.
Chair of the Friends groups Sue Barlow said: “We are always on the lookout for people to join these existing groups or to form new groups and committees in your area – perhaps you live in an area without a Friends group and would like to get one started.
“You don’t need any previous fundraising experience, just an enthusiasm to raise vital funds for the hospice.
“If you want to see what it’s all about, why not come along to our regular coffee mornings at the hospice on the second Friday of every month to find out more?”
