Midnight Beach Walk

10 SEPTEMBER 2016
WESTON BEACH

Back by popular demand, Weston Hospicecare’s Midnight Beach Walk is a women’s-only 5K sponsored walk along the beach in Weston-super-Mare.

Join us (in celebration or reflection) as we celebrate loved ones or people who have touched our lives. Whether you’re walking in memory of a loved one or just out to enjoy a nice walk along the beach with friends (while raising some much-needed funds for the hospice), you’ll have a brilliant time at the Midnight Beach Walk.

Once registration opens at 10:30 p.m., we invite you to come down, sign in and collect your special ‘Midnight Beach Walk’ T-shirt, and enjoy the music and atmosphere. We’ll have a special warm-up session followed by a moment of reflection, and then we’ll set off at midnight from the Tropicana before heading up towards Knightstone Island then back past the Grand Pier down to Royal Sands before finishing back at the Tropicana. We’ll welcome you back with a small finisher’s gift upon course completion.

We will have some sparkly, glowy merchandise available to purchase on the night. If you choose to do so, you can also make a small donation to go toward the cost of a candle bag that you can personalise with an in-memory message.

The event is only open to women and girls, age 11 and up, but we are also planning a fantastic men-only walking event for next year. However, men can support the Midnight Beach Walk as volunteers, so please do get in touch if this is of any interest (01934 423 900 or volunteering@westonhospicecare.org.uk).

Registration cost: £15 for adults, £10 for 11-15 year olds

The registration fee only covers event costs, a ‘Midnight Beach Walk’ T-shirt, the warm-up event and the special gift given at course completion. In order for the event to be a success, we rely on you to raise sponsorship or make an additional donation.

Please note that registration closes at midnight on Saturday, 3rd September 2016. We might have a limited number of places left, but if you sign up on or after Sunday, 4th September 2016, the registration fee will be £30 for adults and £20 for young people.

Do you still have questions about the event? Please have a look at the Midnight Beach Walk FAQs, then get in touch if we haven’t answered your questions.

Interested in registering for the event? Please read the Midnight Beach Walk Terms and Conditions before signing up. Once you’ve done that, visit www.midnightbeachwalk.org.uk to register. Alternatively, you can ring us on 01934 423 960.

    Reclaim Gift Aid

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Weston Hospicecare to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Weston Hospicecare we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like Weston Hospicecare to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Weston Hospicecare will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

    What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Weston Hospicecare receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.
