Hi Everyone,
Welcome to the new Weston Hospicecare staff intranet!
Designed specifically for you, we sincerely hope you will find the intranet to be interesting, useful and fun.
The launch edition is of course a work in progress, so if it looks a little thin to start with, don’t panic! We have lots of ideas for material to add, and more importantly we know that YOU will have great ideas and suggestions, and you can send these through to Harry per the details herein so that we can continue to develop the look, feel and content as we go along. The intranet will also serve as valuable portal for you to be able to access key hospice literature and documentation, instead of scrolling through multiple folders on the F drive.
We’ve wanted a staff intranet for ages but as you will appreciate we have limited resources and things like this take a lot of time and effort. Therefore grateful thanks go most especially to Mark and Harry for developing the intranet, and also to all those persons who have contributed and helped to build the launch edition. Soon, a fun competition will be announced to submit possible names for the staff intranet, to give it some character and to provide an easy reference.
A hospice has a lot of different moving parts, all working together to make the overall machine function smoothly, but at a daily level operating very independently, e.g. our shops are vital to generate the income we need to care for patients, but these operate very separately from our hands-on care. Each department and their respective teams are comprised of professionals and specialists who stay focused on their area of expertise, but we’re all part of one overall hospice team and we want to stay connected to each other and to understand as much as we can about our colleagues’ jobs and lives. This is a constant challenge at the hospice and I believe the staff intranet, while not a magic solution will certainly help to share information, connect people both work-wise and socially, and melt barriers between departments.
I’m particularly excited by our “Healthy Hospice” pages which will pay attention to staff health and wellbeing. We have ambitious plans for this section of the intranet, and we will build it more as we go along with your help and participation.
The CEO Corner will be used to communicate news and initiatives that affect the whole hospice, such as strategy, business plans, major projects, key messages, and such like.
The Forum will be a great place for staff to post interesting facts and information and to share with each other about upcoming events, tips and ideas, and for buying/selling. As with all ‘online’ forums this will work best when posts are kind, respectful and friendly – please refer to the Intranet “Rules” for guidance.
Thank you for reading and I wish you all happy browsing!
With kind regards,
Paul.
