Open Gardens 2024: A Summer of community and celebration

November 20, 2024
Lauren Easterbrook

It’s been a pleasure to welcome back familiar faces of long-time supporters, alongside some new faces such as Katherine & Peter, Janet & Adrian. This year we were also joined by housing provider, Alliance Homes. It’s been wonderful to see the local North Somerset community coming together to give back to the local community, while raising funds to support the vital care our hospice provides. Many supporters and attendees have personal connections to our hospice.

Each garden brought its own unique flair, offering something for everyone. From the friendly llamas, goats, cows, and sheep to the joy of meeting chickens up close, our guests were treated to delightful experiences. We had live music that filled the air, delicious BBQs, tranquil water features, and even exotic plants on display from award-winning gardeners. Some gardens hosted treasure hunts and showcased part-working farms, creating a real sense of adventure.

Our Open Gardens event is vital to help keep our hospice running. A grand total of £11,000 was raised from this year’s event. This is up 71% from last year’s amount raised! Due to your donations, our hospice will be able to continue to deliver palliative care to our patients and their families.

A huge thank you to all the gardeners, hosts, visitors, and volunteers who made this year’s Open Gardens season truly unforgettable! We’re currently recruiting for 2025 for next year’s event! If you’d like to be part of Open Gardens 2025, please email us at info@westonhospicecare.org.uk. We’d love to have you join in the fun next year!

Here’s to many more summers of blooming friendships and flourishing gardens!
