Weston Hospicecare supporters are being invited to battle for glory across a series of inflatable obstacles and foam pits this summer in the charity’s It’s A Hospice Knockout team challenge.
This event sees groups of 6-10 people go head-to-head in six fun physical and mental challenges. Points are awarded for those who perform the best in each activity with leaders going through to a final and the winner crowned at the end of the day.
In competitive and fun day, teams who are deemed to have the best fancy dress will receive bonus points. Teams can also play one joker to receive double points on challenges they believe they can make the most points from.
The event will take place at Weston Cricket Club on 14 July and it cost £100 per team to secure your place. Each team is encouraged to raise at least £500 on top of their registration fee. Participants must be at least 17 years old to take part.
Events manager Simon Angear said: “Last year we had so much fun watching everyone enjoy themselves in support of Weston Hospicecare.
“This year we want more teams to get involved to make for a more competitive and fun day for all who take part and enjoy the after-party together.
“It is a perfect platform for colleagues, friends, family members, teammates or any group to team-up, have fun, develop relationships and support the hospice.”
Last September, the first It’s A Hospice Knockout raised nearly £11,000 as the Grand Pier’s team took home the trophy. They are expected to return in 2019 in an attempt to defend their crown.
Team captains can sign up their team by visiting westonhospicecare.org.uk/knockout and following the instructions about how to register. All participants will need to provide personal details on the day.
The charity must raise £4.2million each year to support annual operational costs with only 20% of that figure provided by the NHS. This means sales in shops, donations and money raised at events, like It’s A Hospice Knockout, are vital.
