Weston Hospicecare Announces New Chair of the Board of Trustees

Weston Hospicecare is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Andrews as the new Chair of the Board of Trustees, after a recent unanimous vote.

Mark succeeds Dr Peter Smith, who recently retired after two years of dedicated leadership. Mark brings a passionate commitment to the Hospice’s mission and a clear vision for the future.

Paul Winspear, Chief Executive of Weston Hospicecare said: “I wish to sincerely thank Dr Peter Smith for his selfless service to the Hospice during his two years as Chair, and for all the guidance and support he has provided to us.

“We are delighted to now have Mark Andrews as our new Chair, and I would like to congratulate him on being appointed and welcome him into this new role.”

Mark has strong ties to the local area, having moved to Weston at the age of 11. Now residing in Burnham-on-Sea, he brings more than four decades of experience across sales, business development, product and project management, strategy, business planning, and senior leadership across multiple
industries.

Mark Andrews said of his appointment: “I am extremely honoured to have been given this opportunity and thank my fellow board members for their support. I look forward to working closely with the team whilst we negotiate these tricky times. I’m also excited to get to know those members of staff I have not yet had the privilege of meeting, as I learn more about Weston Hospicecare and the amazing service we offer.”

Mark’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for Weston Hospicecare as it continues to provide free compassionate care to patients and their families across the area. The organisation looks forward to his leadership as it navigates future challenges and opportunities, staying true to its mission of delivering outstanding palliative care to the local community.
