Weston Hospicecare’s Mendip Challenge has been postponed due to the international coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
It was due to take place on Sunday 7 June and it becomes the latest hospice event to be effected by the outbreak.
The Mendip Challenge is the hospice’s marquee event which raised more than £80,000 last year; enough resource to run the charity for a week.
The hospice has confirmed the event is now set to take place on Sunday 6 September 2020 and all participants who have already registered will automatically be entered into the new date.
Events Manager Grace Dibden said: “We’re bitterly disappointed to announce we are postponing our upcoming Mendip Challenge which was due to take place on 7 June.
“However, we have to take action to protect the health of our amazing supporters, our incredible volunteers, and staff during these unprecedented times.
“We must stay positive and the new date gives the hospice more time to make it the most successful Mendip Challenge in history.
“We know our phenomenal supporters will come out in force to give the event much-needed support later in the year.”
Despite the postponement, Hospice supporters can still register online by visiting westonhospicecare.org.uk/mendip.
