Weston Hospicecare, the local charity that provides vital care and support to people affected by life-limiting illnesses, has recently launched its appeal to the public, asking for keen gardeners to consider opening their garden in aid of the hospice. To tie in with the appeal, the hospice has arranged for John Crockford-Hawley, a very knowledgeable and popular local historian, to give a talk about Weston’s parks and gardens.
‘We have been lucky enough to secure John Crockford-Hawley, who has very generously agreed to offer his services to the hospice and give a talk entitled ‘Bloom & Pleasure, An illustrated wander through Weston’s Parks & Gardens’,’ said Sue Harding, community fundraiser at Weston Hospicecare.
This talk is to be held at Weston College’s Knightstone Campus on Tuesday, 6 June. Although the talk starts at 7:15 p.m., guests are asked to arrive by 6:45 p.m.
Tickets, which are available from the hospice’s fundraising department, are priced at just £10, which includes a first glass of wine. All proceeds from the evening will come to Weston Hospicecare.
‘John is a very interesting and entertaining speaker,’ Sue said. ‘His recent series of talks in the town were an absolute sell-out – and tickets are strictly limited, so contact us now to book your spot!’
