In-Patient Unit…

Symptom control and end of life care at the hospice…

Our In-Patient Unit (IPU) operates 24 hours per day to manage physical symptoms such as pain. A doctor is on site everyday and nurses are available at all times to ensure patients are comfortable.

Approximately 30% of patients cared for at the IPU are discharged home once symptoms settle.

In line with your Advance Care Plan, you will receive the best personal and nursing care possible and our doctors will ensure you receive the correct medication.

Visitors, including children and pets, are welcome to visit and the unit has facilities such as our family room, quiet room and kitchen to keep your visitors comfortable.

If you have been attending other hospice services such as Day Services and/or via the Family Support Team, you will be able to continue to do so.

What to bring with you…

  • A change of clothes and shoes, some night clothes, slippers and a dressing gown.
  • Toiletries and tissues
  • Soft drinks and food supplements, if required
  • Any medication you are currently taking
  • Any personal possessions
  • Any health related documents
