Each minute, it costs Weston Hospicecare £7.64 to operate.
This month we are promoting our A MINUTE A MONTH campaign as we mark it’s two year anniversary. You can read about what it has achieved so far on page 13 of our latest Newsround which can be read by clicking here.
The difference of the campaign?
Family Support Team Manager Jen Wakefield says “I remember a lovely lady being terrified of coming into the hospice.
The lady Jen describes then said, “I thought it would be miserable here, full of death, but it’s better than a hotel, I don’t want to leave. I feel so loved”.
Jen continues “On the day she died, the sun was shining so we moved the patient into the hospice garden to be with her husband and daughters who were having sandwiches.
“There was so much laughter. A real celebration of her life and all she had created.
“She died a couple of hours later, with her husband and daughters by her side.”
This is just one story of how campaign supporters provided a peaceful and happy ending.
So, what is the target of A MINUTE A MONTH?
The campaign asks supporters to give £7.64 a month to cover the cost of one minute of care.
The aim is to secure enough supporters, in time, to cover the cost of one day of care per month. 1440 minutes.
To date, 678 minutes have been achieved meaning we have achieved 47% of our regular giving target. Thank you so much to our supporters.
