A South Western Ambulance paramedic from Weston-super-Mare has swam the English Channel to raise money for Weston Hospicecare.
Darran Griffiths, who plays for Hornets Rugby Club, emulated his sister Laura who completed the same swim in 1997.
He has raised more than £3,000 for the hospice so far and, along with his sister, becomes part of the only sibling pairing to complete the challenge.
Jane Murch, Weston Hospicecare Events and Challenges Manager, says “We were delighted to welcome the lovely Darran and his partner Emma Hodder to Jackson-Barstow House recently after his incredible swim for the hospice.
“The pair saw where Darran’s support will be going and as medical professional themselves fully supported what the hospice is doing.
“Darran is an absolute hero and on behalf of everyone at the hospice, we thank him so much for his support.”
The hospice relies on 80% funding from supporters so every penny raised by supporters like Darran is crucial.
