Weston Hospicecare staged a very special event for local families coming to terms with the loss of a loved one.
Families and friends were invited along to Christ Church, in Montpelier (Weston-super-Mare), on Wednesday 28 June. The congregation were given an opportunity to make a dedication with a beautiful flower.
Karen Murphy, Chaplain and Spiritual Lead at Weston Hospicecare, led the service and says “We are grateful for the excellent support the church gave to make the evening go so well.
“The aim of the service was to provide a comforting and peaceful space for those facing bereavement.
“Someone said to me after the service ‘I felt as if I’d been wrapped up in a Summer evening'”.
Weston Hospicecare’s Family Support Team specialise in providing support to patients and their families. Often, providing counselling to surviving family members long after the death of a loved one.
Karen continues “Please feel able to contact the Family Support Team if you would like more information about our bereavement support service on 01934 423900.”
There were also contributions from staff and volunteers. They included readings by Paul Winspear, Chief Executive, and Judi Driscoll, Patron.
Families stayed after the service to talk to specialist bereavement counsellors with refreshments.
Thank you to Groves Funeral Directors for printing the program and to Jacquie Stewart at Worle Florist for supplying the flowers.
