Weston Hospicecare recognises the great value of carers in the health and social sector. They are different to nurses, doctors and other medical professionals and play a vital role in treating someone in need.
The hospice’s CEO, Paul Winspear, says “It’s impossible to overstate how vital Carers are to the health and social care system, including end of life care. Each day this Carers’ Week, we will be posting a comment from one of our senior clinicians to express how they feel about Carers.
In keeping with their kindness, patience and selfless nature, the Carers who support our patients do not think of themselves as Carers, nor do they want to be considered that way. They see themselves simply as family and friends doing their best for a loved one. One of the best things the hospice can offer is to relieve people of the burden of caring so they can revert again to being sons and daughters, siblings, cousins, mums and dads, or just good friends. So to all the Carers, whether you think of yourselves that way or not, we salute you and we are here for you.”
