Weston Hospicecare regretfully announces the postponement of their eagerly anticipated Summer Fayre, scheduled to take place at Hornets Rugby Club this Saturday, 22 July.
This weekend’s adverse weather forecast predicts heavy rain and strong winds in Weston-super-Mare.
Conversations are currently underway to determine a new date and alternative location. Further details will be communicated in due course.
Kirsty Simmons, Senior Community Fundraiser, expressed deep disappointment over the decision, saying, “We are bitterly disappointed to have to postpone our annual Summer Fayre.
“Over the past two years, the event has developed increasing popularity. Even in the face of less favourable weather conditions last year.
“However, with the forecast indicating persistent bad weather, our primary concern lies in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all attendees while continuing to raise essential funds for the hospice.”
She went on to add, “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused. For those who have entered their dogs into the dog show, we will be in touch to offer a full refund or the opportunity to participate in the rescheduled event.”
The operational costs of Weston Hospicecare amount to £5.5 million annually, with only 20% of the funding provided by the local CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group).
The hospice extends its compassionate care to more than 1,600 individuals each year in the Weston-super-Mare and northern Somerset areas.
This invaluable care is made possible solely through the unwavering support and dedication of our incredible supporters and volunteers.
The hospice expresses its appreciation to those supporters for their understanding and continued support, which has been the cornerstone of the compassionate care provided to the community since 1989.
The new date is expected to be announced soon. For full details, stay tuned to our social media accounts and website.
