Balfour Beatty
A team from Balfour Beatty’s Somerset operation to link Hinkley Point C power station with the National Grid has adopted the hospice as its charity partner – a link which has seen team members volunteering at the hospice, joining events, and taking on intrepid fundraising challenges.
HSES Project Partner David McCabe said: “Our ambition for the Hinkley Connection Project team is to support a local charity who shares our passion for health, safety and wellbeing. And a charity which resonates with our employees. Everyone at some point in their life can be affected by cancer or rely on the support from a hospice.
The team has really benefited from our relationship with Weston Hospicecare – through team-building events, like The Three Peaks Challenge and It’s A Hospice Knockout. But also from visiting the hospice and listening to presentations from their frontline staff.
We’ve seen increased workforce engagement, a strong sense of pride within the team and plenty of determination to raise as much money as we can.
